About Church Services

Church Services

What Is A Service?

A service, in Spiritualism, is a meeting consisting of prayers, hymns (Sundays), a reading and a short talk from an experienced medium.

During the service, the medium will 'link' with the spirit world for two purposes:
• Firstly to pass on messages (called a reading) to members of the congregation
• Secondly, to provide a spiritual reading and address (also called the philosophy).

What Is A Reading?

The readings in our temple are normally done with flowers.  The medium will provide a message to the person who provided the flower, via a link with the spirit world.  This is done without identifying the person.
Each person's flower is recognised by the number that is allocated to it when it is put in the flower board (see below).

Please bring a small cut flower (ideally from your garden) to have a flower reading done.
The Church also has its own garden if you need a flower.
Place the flower in the numbered flower board by the Church door when you arrive and remember your number.
Only one flower per person (i.e. one flower reading) please.

Messages are typically given as kindly loving advice (not firm instructions) on a relevant matter within the person’s earthly or spiritual life, or possibly someone else around that person.  They may even receive a message from a loved one, friend or family member who has passed into higher life.  This is also known as Proof of Survival.

Please note that this Church does not do "private readings", including after the service.

What Is A Spiritual Reading & Address?

The reading is usually from a religious book (such as the Holy Bible) or another suitable spiritual work selected by the medium.

The address will be also given by the medium: either about the philosophy of Spiritualism and related subjects, or a pertinent subject for the congregation at hand.  Both are normally given with the help of their Spirit Guide(s).

Why Attend Our Services?

People attend services for many reasons: to receive a flower reading, the reading & address,  the meditation (Wednesdays), receive a sense of divine love and peace, and/or to meet like-minded people also on the spiritual path.
A number of people are looking to join a spiritual community.
Some come to have some quiet time or reflection within their busy lives.

Who Attends Our Services?

We welcome all people from different background, faiths, cultures, belief systems, etc.
We have had people attend services from many spiritual beliefs, including:
• All the major faiths and many Christian denominations
• People of a spiritual nature looking for something more
• Those looking for answers to questions about life, is there life beyond, etc.
Some attend our services as well as services held within their normal church.
